SKANR — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SKANR ("Application", "we", "our", "us") collects, stores, uses, and processes information when you use the SKANR mobile application.

By using the Application, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use SKANR.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of data:

1.1. Diagnostic and Technical Data

Collected automatically during vehicle scanning:

  • OBD2 diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
  • module information
  • vehicle parameters provided by the adapter
  • VIN (if provided by the adapter or entered manually)
  • selected make, model, year, country, language
  • risk assessments, explanations, AI-generated insights
  • scan timestamps

1.2. Application Logs

We collect technical data related to app performance:

  • Bluetooth logs
  • connection attempts and failures
  • adapter communication errors
  • internal crash logs
  • stability data
  • background operation logs
  • scanning process logs
  • app version, device model, OS version

1.3. User Identifier

We may generate and store a random unique user ID to link scan reports and logs to the same device or user session.

We do not collect your name, phone number, address, or any personally identifying information unless you provide it voluntarily.

1.4. Payment Information

Payments are processed exclusively by:

  • Apple App Store
  • Google Play (if applicable)

We do not receive or store your payment card details.

1.5. Usage Analytics

We may collect anonymized usage information:

  • number of scans
  • features used
  • screens opened
  • subscription activation data
  • general app interaction metrics

1.6. App Diagnostics & Error Reporting

If the app crashes or malfunctions, we may collect anonymized crash data via:

  • internal logging tools
  • third-party analytics partners

2. How We Use the Information

We may use collected data for the following purposes:

  • to operate the Application
  • to provide scan results
  • to improve accuracy of AI-generated explanations
  • to analyze performance and detect issues
  • to enhance user experience
  • to develop new features
  • to conduct analytics and statistical research
  • to ensure stable operation of Bluetooth and adapter connections
  • to improve compatibility with additional vehicles and devices
  • to prevent fraud or abuse
  • for training, improving, and validating machine learning models

We reserve the right to use anonymized and aggregated data without limitation.

3. Data Storage Duration

We may store diagnostic reports, logs, analytics, and anonymized data indefinitely, unless required otherwise by law.

4. Data Sharing

We may share anonymized or technical data with:

  • cloud hosting providers
  • analytics partners
  • crash reporting services
  • machine learning platforms
  • technical contractors and service providers
  • infrastructure and database services

We may also share data if required by law, court order, or government request.

We do not sell personal data to third parties.

Your data may be stored or processed in:

  • the United States
  • the United Kingdom
  • Israel
  • or any other country where our service providers operate

By using SKANR, you consent to the transfer and processing of data in any jurisdiction.

6. Security Measures

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, but:

  • no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure
  • we cannot guarantee absolute security

You use the Application at your own risk.

7. Children’s Privacy

SKANR is not intended for individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Third-Party OBD2 Devices

The Application relies on third-party OBD2 adapters. We do not control:

  • data quality they transmit
  • their safety, compliance, or functionality
  • their electrical or mechanical behavior

We are not responsible for any issues arising from the use of third-party adapters.

9. User Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

  • access your stored data
  • request deletion
  • request correction
  • limit processing

Requests may require identity verification. We may refuse requests if:

  • data cannot be linked to a specific person,
  • it would violate legal obligations,
  • it concerns anonymized or aggregated data,
  • it concerns diagnostic logs necessary for app operation.

10. Legal Basis for Processing

We process data based on:

  • legitimate interest (service improvement, analytics)
  • performance of the app’s core functionality
  • compliance with legal requirements
  • user consent when applicable

11. Changes to the Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use of the Application constitutes acceptance of any changes.
